Double coated dog fur acts as their thermoregulating insulation. It keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. When it is removed, they lose their ability to control their own body temperature. Also, shaving a double coated dog often causes coat damage which can be permanent. Regular brushing at home routine grooming appointments are the best methods for reducing shedding.
