"Had our first mobile grooming with Groombuggy. It was so nice that they came to our house and we’re very professional. Our senior dog has anxiety and hates being groomed but it was definitely better than taking her somewhere. They did a great job! My pup smelled great, was super soft and best off all her nails were nice and short! Will definitely be using them again for our next groom."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dog groomer?

Dog groomers are experienced service professionals who provide dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. At Groombuggy, our dog groomers are animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Experienced dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. For example, a poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu so it pays to have one of our trained pros provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many of our professionals who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

What is included in dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on the grooming package you choose for your pup. Also, some dogs like goldendoodles, shepherds, and shih tzus have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. These breeds sometimes require additional dematting services if the matting is moderate to severe.

At Groombuggy, we offer our services in the form of a Full Groom package or a Bath & Brush package. A Full Groom comes with a soothing bath and blow out, a stylish haircut, thorough brushing, and meticulous care for nails, teeth, ears, and anal glands. It's the ultimate spa day your pup deserves. A Bath & Brush Includes a thorough brush to detangle and shine, rejuvenating bath and blow out, a nail trim, and a teeth cleaning. Perfect for keeping your dog looking and feeling their best in between full groom sessions.

How much does it cost for a mobile dog groomer?

Mobile dog groomers come to your home and bathe, trim, and groom your dog. Mobile grooming is often easier on your dog, as they don’t have to go to a strange place to get groomed, and it saves you the effort of transportation. Prices for mobile pet grooming services vary based on service location, dog breed, and dog weight. Mobile dog grooming prices tend to be higher than grooming shops due to costs associated with the vans. However, customers value the convenience of the service, along with the safe and relaxing environment that the vans create for their dogs.

At Groombuggy, our prices vary based on your pet's breed and weight. Please fill out our new customer form here, and our team will respond within a few minutes with a price estimate.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the Groombuggy healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Read below to learn more about standard dog vaccinations or tap here to learn more about Groombuggy’s vaccination policy.

  • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
  • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
  • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
  • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
  • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog

How much do you tip the dog groomer?

Do you have a dog that you get groomed regularly? If you do, you’ve probably wondered how much — or even if — you’re supposed to tip your dog groomer. Treat your dog groomer as you would your own hair stylist. A 15 percent to 20 percent tip is an appropriate amount to show your appreciation for a dog grooming job well done. If your dog didn’t get clean or their nails didn’t get properly clipped, then you certainly don’t have to tip.

How can I make a reservation?

Existing clients can use the “Request an appointment” form on the website, and we will coordinate details and scheduling with you. If it’s your first time with Groombuggy, please fill out the “New Client Application” for with information about you and your dog, and we will get back to you about coordinating next steps.

What services do you offer?

We provide a full grooming experience, complete with bathing using the highest end care products, careful haircutting with scissors and clippers, nail trimming, ear cleaning and anal gland expression (upon request) and full teeth brushing. Specific services (eg, de-skunking) can be accommodated upon request.

What should I expect with the grooming appointment?

We will confirm our arrival time the day of the appointment and then call you when we’re outside - just let us know if you have any special requests (eg, park the van on the side of the apartment building, and we can meet you at your door or you can bring your dog outside. A typical grooming appointment should take anywhere between 1 to 2 hours depending on your dog's size and breed.

Do you offer urgent or rush appointments?

We know life doesn't always go according to plan, so message us and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

My dog got sprayed by a skunk! Can you help?

Groombuggy is committed to providing a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for dog grooming services. As part of this commitment, we do not accept dogs that have been sprayed by skunks for grooming services until they have been properly de-skunked by their owners or elsewhere. If a dog is identified as having been sprayed by a skunk, the owner will be immediately notified and informed that we cannot provide grooming services until the dog has been de-skunked. If a skunked dog is inadvertently accepted and identified during the grooming process, grooming will be halted. Minimum fee will be charged.

How long will the groom take?

A typical grooming appointment should take anywhere between 1 to 2 hours depending on your dog's size and breed. If your dog has never been groomed before, or there are issues (i.e. matting), then it can take longer. After our first grooming sessions, it is usually quicker going forward. The more we know about your dog, the better.

Do I need to be home during the grooming session?

Yes. At least when we first arrive and if it's your dogs first groom. If you have to run a quick errand, that is no problem at all. However, we do ask you or someone is able to take your dog back once we are done. We will never leave a dog unattended.

Are you able to work with older dogs?

We love our older clients and use the precautions and equipment necessary to ensure a safe and comfortable grooming experience. We can discuss the specifics during the booking process.

Do you groom puppies?

We love puppies and the sooner you can get your dog familiar with grooming, the better. When you book, we can discuss several things you can do at home to prepare them for their first groom.

What if my dog needs special shampoo?

We have several types of shampoos and can also use any special shampoos that you provide.

How often should I have my dog groomed?

It depends on several factors: breed, coat, age, etc. We have years of grooming experience behind us, and as we get to know your dog, we can set up the ideal schedule. Recurring grooms is ideal for your dog's health. Also, anxious or nervous dogs benefit greatly from regular and recurring groom sessions.

I have a rescue dog. Are you able to handle nervous or anxious dogs?

Of course! We love rescue dogs and salute you for providing them a home. Tell us more about them and we can figure out a specific plan on how to help.
